When the tones drop, the equipment works or it doesn't. Spec it for that.

Fire apparatus live a harder life than almost any vehicle on the road. They sit idle between calls, then run hot and hard the moment they're needed, through heat, vibration, water, and the chemical washdowns that follow a bad scene. They stay in service for fifteen or twenty years. Consumer-grade hardware doesn't last a fraction of that. Equipment built and rated for the apparatus environment does.

The hard part isn't picking a tablet or a light bar. It's making the cab work as a system. In-cab computing has to pull dispatch, mapping, hydrant locations, and pre-incident plans without lagging when seconds count. Mounting has to fit a cab that was never designed like a sedan. Lighting has to meet the standards that apply in your jurisdiction, including intrinsically safe ratings where hazmat exposure is a factor. And communications have to hold up on a fireground, where the structure itself is working against your signal.
