The connection a unit can't afford to lose

A cruiser, an engine, or an ambulance runs on the link back: CAD and plate checks, license-plate recognition, FirstNet, and the video that has to offload at end of shift. WHEN A UNIT GOES DARK

A dropped link is an officer-safety problem

A public-safety vehicle is a network on wheels, and the network is where the work lives. The officer runs a plate, the deputy pulls a record, the medic sends patient data ahead, the video uploads at the end of the shift. All of it depends on a connection that holds while the vehicle moves through the whole territory, not just where the coverage is good.

One carrier has holes. A consumer hotspot was never built to ride a full shift of pursuit, vibration, and tower handoffs, and it cannot run the laptop, the camera, and the rest of the cabin at once. When the link drops in the wrong place, a deputy is out of contact in a county with thin coverage, and that is a safety problem before it is a data problem.

Sector builds the in-vehicle connection as one system: the router, the roof antennas, the carriers and SIMs, the failover, and the power to survive the vehicle. It is FirstNet-ready, managed remotely across the fleet, and installed and supported by the same team that builds the rest of the patrol vehicle.

The router that runs the vehicle

The gateway turns the vehicle into its own network. It runs 4G LTE and 5G, in single or dual cellular radios, with FirstNet-ready options for public safety and dual-SIM carrier flexibility so the unit is not tied to one network. Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6 keep the in-car computer, the cameras, and every other device online at once, and GNSS with dead reckoning holds location through tunnels and downtown canyons where GPS alone drops. It is built for the cruiser, with a rugged housing, ignition-aware power, and cloud management so the whole fleet is configured and watched without pulling a car off the road.

PRIORITY AND PREEMPTION

FirstNet, with a commercial network behind it

For public safety the connection runs on FirstNet, the responder network with priority and preemption when the commercial carriers are congested. Sector specs FirstNet-ready routers and provisions the service, including primary and extended plans, then layers a commercial carrier behind it as a failover path. When one network is down or saturated, the unit stays connected on the other, automatically.

More than one way back to dispatch

One network is one point of failure, and a county has dead spots. Sector designs the link to stay up with multiple SIMs and carriers and automatic failover that switches without dropping the session. Where the territory runs past the edge of cellular, satellite failover keeps a thin always-on link to the unit. This is the always-on-in-motion part of the build, and it is the difference between a deputy who is reachable and one who is not.

PULLING IN THE SIGNAL

Antennas and coverage for the whole county

A radio is only as good as the antenna on the roof. Sector fits low-profile multi-port antennas that combine cellular MIMO, Wi-Fi, and GPS in one unit, placed and cabled so the systems do not interfere with each other. Where a unit works the rural edge of the county, a vehicle cellular booster amplifies the usable signal so the router has something to work with on the back roads and in the valleys.

The router is the connectivity layer beneath everything else in the car. It is what the in-car Getac computer reaches dispatch and databases through, and what the in-car and body-worn video offloads over, specced together with the computer and the video rather than bolted on afterward. For command posts, mobile incidents, and temporary scenes, the same connectivity comes as a quick-deploy, battery-powered kit.
